New bike racks outside Dublin Food Co-op New bike racks installed outside Co-op

The wait is over! New bike racks have been installed in Newmarket Square, right outside the Co-op, after an online consultation held throughout 2010 by the dublincitycycling.ie website. DFC was one of three locations to poll over 200 votes.



Michael Kelly addresses the launch eventFull house for GIY launch event

Over 80 people packed into Dublin Food Co-op to hear Grow It Yourself Ireland founder Michael Kelly address the launch meeting of a new Dublin city centre group on Saturday 22nd January.

Regular meetings will now take place at the Co-op on the second Saturday of every month, from 12 noon to 1.30, beginning on 12th February.



Double the DFC on Facebook

The Co-op recently revamped its presence on Facebook and now offers two possible ways to link in - we invite you to follow our Facebook Page for the latest news and updates and also to join the interactive Friends of Dublin Food Co-op Facebook Group.



Blazing Salads bread still available

To correct some misinformation elsewhere online, Blazing Salads' bread is still being made - and it's still available at the Co-op on Saturdays. While they've downsized their baking operations overall, Blazing Salads continue to operate a stall as one of our Producer Members on Saturdays.



Fáilte sessions - now last Saturday

Following January's welcome session for new members, the monthly Fáilte has been given a new slot on the calendar starting from February onwards - the final Saturday of the month from 12 noon to 1.30pm. Next session is therefore Saturday 26th February.

New Winter Newsletter published

The latest issue of our print newsletter has been published, the first overseen by new editor Martha Skelly. In it, she interviews Jiri Dobrovolny from the Czech Republic - better known as George - who was instrumental in the construction of the new Core Produce Area during the year. You'll also find a warming winter recipe from Pat Tobin - Red Onion Tarte Tatin.

Members approve Israel boycott

Large X over Jaffa orangesAt a Special General meeting on Thursday 25th November, Co-op members approved a boycott of all Israeli produce by a majority of 50 votes to 6. The prohibition on Israeli goods will apply to the entire Co-op premises and therefore to producer members as well as Co-op core produce. » more
