Cover of 'Slow Dublin'For author Anto Howard, Dublin Food Co-op beats out farmers' markets as a place to shop: "the most organic and politically conscious... in town," he says - rightly!

"It's not at all po-faced; the large indoor space is a hive of community buzz overflowing with goodness. All the veggies are organic and locally grown. One lovely stall sells and eclectic mix of wildflowers, dusty berries and muddy spuds that look like they were dug up only minutes before. There's a baker, a cheese stall, ogranic wines and even eco-friendly cleaning products at the dry goods stall. The place is always packed with kids, and baby-changing facilities are a thoughtful touch."

Describing itself as "a lifestyle guide for Dubliners who want to live more and fret less", it's a book that celebrates all that's unique, local, natural and traditional, with a focus on seasonal cycles and sensory experience.
